Gutter Installation, Repair & Cleaning in Sanibel, FL
Since Hurricane Ian, Sanibel has been rebuilding, and a lot of island homes now sit higher, with new metal roofs and long downspout drops. A gutter system here has to handle Gulf storms, salt air and serious wind, and carry the water away from the pilings, the parking level and the plantings.
The Brothers That Just Do Gutters have installed gutters on Sanibel homes from the East End near the lighthouse to West Gulf Drive, plus Captiva. We also clean, repair, and handle downspout drainage, fascia and soffit.
We’re veteran-owned and state-licensed (CBC1270165), and our crews have worked on 100+ Sanibel homes since 2022, most of them during the rebuild after Ian.

THE LICENSE GAP
Only 12 of 91 gutter companies in Southwest Florida hold a Florida contractor’s license

“Licensed and insured” isn’t a license number
Almost every contractor says it. Very few can show you a state number. A city or county business tax receipt is just a tax registration: no exam, no insurance check, no bond. Only a state license from the Florida DBPR authorizes gutter installation.
Why it matters to you:
- Insurance. If an unlicensed contractor’s work causes damage, your carrier can dispute the claim.
- Liability. Unlicensed crews often carry no workers’ comp. If someone falls off your roof, that can land on you.
- Warranty. An unlicensed contractor’s contract can’t be enforced, so the warranty is worth nothing.
- No safety net. Florida’s Homeowners’ Construction Recovery Fund only covers work by licensed contractors.
CHECK ANY CONTRACTOR IN 15 SECONDS
- Ask for the state license number, not a business tax receipt.
- Search it at myfloridalicense.com under “Verify a Licensee.”
- Make sure it says Current, Active, and the name matches the company on your estimate.

Gutters built for Sanibel homes
Elevated homes, Gulf wind and salt air change how a gutter system should be designed. We plan every job around them.
Raised and elevated homes
Homes rebuilt on pilings after Ian put gutters 20 to 30 feet up, with long downspout drops that have to be strapped tight against high wind. Our crews work at that height every week.
Salt air and Gulf wind
Right on the water, fasteners and seams take a beating. Seamless runs, sealed joints, hidden hangers and secured downspouts hold up far longer.
Metal roofs
Most rebuilt island homes have metal roofs, which shed water fast. We size gutters and downspouts to the roof so water leaves the gutter instead of shooting over it.
Protecting the plantings
Native landscaping is part of what makes Sanibel, Sanibel. Downspouts placed right keep roof water from washing out beds and eroding sandy soil around the home.
Second homes and rentals
Many Sanibel homes are second homes or vacation rentals. We can do the estimate and install while you’re away and send photos of the finished job.
Repairs after a storm
If wind has bent, pulled or separated your gutters, we fix what can be fixed and tell you straight when a run is better replaced.

SERVICE AREA
Sanibel neighborhoods we serve
From the lighthouse to Blind Pass, island homes need different things from their gutters.
- East End. Homes near the lighthouse and Periwinkle Way, a mix of older cottages and new elevated builds.
- Mid-island and the Dunes. Neighborhoods off Sanibel-Captiva Road and around the golf course, many re-roofed after Ian.
- Gulf-front and West Gulf Drive. Homes right on the beach, where salt air and wind off the Gulf are strongest.
- Bay-side and canal homes. Homes on the bay side and the canals, where downspouts need to drain away from docks and seawalls.
- Captiva. We work on Captiva too, with the same salt-air and storm exposure as Sanibel.
We serve all of Sanibel and Captiva, plus Fort Myers Beach and south Fort Myers.

AFTER IAN
Rebuilding the island, one roof at a time
Hurricane Ian’s storm surge washed over much of Sanibel in September 2022 and cut the causeway. In the rebuild since, a lot of island homes have gone back up higher, with new metal roofs.
If you’re rebuilding or just finished, check three things:
- Are gutters part of the plan? Builders often leave them off. Without them, roof water pours onto stairs, decks and the parking level.
- Are they sized for the roof? Metal roofs shed water fast. Undersized gutters overflow in the first big storm.
- Are the downspouts secured for wind? Long drops on a raised home need to be strapped tight, or the next storm takes them off.
Book a free estimate and we’ll look at your current gutters and tell you straight whether they need replacing or just need work.

Sanibel gutter questions, answered
Does a gutter company need a license in Florida?
Yes. Installing gutters for pay in Florida requires a state contractor’s license from the DBPR. A city or county business tax receipt is not a contractor’s license. Ask for the number and look it up at myfloridalicense.com. Ours is CBC1270165.
Can you fix leaking or sagging gutters?
Often, yes. We reseal leaking corners and seams, re-secure loose sections and replace damaged downspouts. But leaks and sagging usually have a cause, like gutters pitched the wrong way, too few downspouts or an old system at the end of its life. We find the cause first and shoot you straight on whether a repair will hold or replacing the run is the better buy.
Can you install gutters on a raised home on pilings?
Yes. Most of the homes we work on at Sanibel are elevated. We install the gutters, strap the long downspout drops for wind, and route the water away from the pilings and parking level.
Do you work on Captiva?
Yes. We serve Captiva as well as Sanibel.
Do gutters hold up to salt air?
Seamless aluminum gutters with sealed joints and the right fasteners hold up well. We use screw-in hidden hangers and secure every downspout for Gulf wind.
Do I need to be on the island for the estimate or install?
No. Many Sanibel homes are second homes or rentals. We can do both while you’re away and send photos and updates by phone.
How often should gutters be cleaned in Sanibel?
At least once a year, ideally before rainy season in June. Homes under oaks or palms, and homes with super gutters, do best with two cleanings a year through our Rain Ready Club.
How much do new gutters cost in Sanibel?
Most full installations run about $2,000 to $4,000, depending on the size of the house and whether it needs 6″ or 7″ gutters. Every quote is free and in writing.
